We have recently received a letter through from the Prime Minister of Liechtenstein. Its a very encouraging and positive letter and he has asked us to contact him again as the project progresses. The encouragement that we have received from all the countries that have replied means a great deal.Their faith in what we are attempting is a driving force behind the project.
Withe so many different aspects to the project the organisational side of it has been quite a challenge but we are starting to find our rhythm with it all.Apart from getting countries and overseas territories to participate we are also working gaining the support of organisations involved with Peace, Environmental Issues, Indigenous Issues and education as the project covers all these areas and more. Its taking a lot of effort but we are slowly forging contacts in these areas and our project is starting to appear across the web. Getting people discussing the possibilities of the venture and the benefits of its creation will play a big part in the projects success. We have lived with this endeavor for 15 months now and the scale of it doesnt get any smaller but neither is our determination to make it succeed. The Global vote for where the structure should be built is taking a lot more effort than we first thought.Finding 1 school in every country is proving a great challenge even with the assistance of the Internet but that is still ongoing and an important part of the project. If you have followed the project from the start we hope you have enjoyed the journey so far and as new events occur we keep you informed.

For some reason the blog from the past 2 months seems to have disappeared somewhere in the system so i will update all the events in this blog while we try to sort the problem.Since the third letter went out the Cayman Islands have replied and said they would like to participate. The letter they sent us was very encouraging and gave the project a great boost. We have also heard from the Latvian government and the government of Northern Ireland. They have both expressed interest in the project and asked us to contact them again as the project progresses. At this stage of the project these replies are very important to us because it leaves the door open for future involvement. With 19 countries and overseas territories wishing to participate and a further 5 countries we have to contact as the project progresses things are going very well.
We have recently been in contact with Professor John Guillebaud, the originator of the “Eco Time capsule”project. After initial discussions we hope to bring you further details on his project that started in 1994 and the creation of a link between the two projects. Its encouraging for us to know that the reasons we are attempting our venture have already proved to be successful with his.

The past few weeks have been an extremely busy time for us.We finally have the third letter ready to send out to every government and we believe it is the best one yet.Archbishop Desmond Tutu has kindly given permission for us to send out a copy of his letter with ours and we hope that with his amazing support more countries will take a closer look at the project. The letter will go out within the next 7 days and this time they will go out in 1 batch. We had hoped to send the letter out sooner but getting the Archbishops approval was worth the wait.
I will take this opportunity to thank Shireen Drew ,who founded the Bradford Peace Museum for sharing her experience and expertise with various aspects of the project.Expertise is the one thing we can never have too much of.
At the end of this month the project will be 1 year old, and we have come along way in a relatively short period of time considering the scale of the venture. There is a great deal of work going on behind the scenes and we are currently in contact with many people whose input will become apparent as the project progresses. With this third letter going out we hope to have plenty to write about in the near future.

Since the last update in February we have had an extremely busy few weeks. The preparations for the peace Jam event took up a lot of time, but the results were worth the effort. The workshop went very well and we received some excellent feedback about the project. We also met Nobel peace Laureate President Jose Ramos of Timor Leste and he asked us to keep him informed of our progress.(pictures on the gallery page)Many thanks to Dawn Engle and the team at peace Jam for their hospitality.A few days ago we also received a letter of support from Nobel peace laureate Archbishop Desmond Tutu.As you can imagine to have the archbishop looking at our project and sending us his support means a great deal.We are currently working on adding a new page to the website so we can show you these letters of support. The third letter for all the countries in the world is near completion and we hope to send it out in mid April. The message of what we are trying to achieve seems to now be getting through, and as more countries and individuals agree to participate we hope the project will really pick up momentum.

February is continuing where last month left off.Firstly we received a reply from the Solomon Islands confirming their participation.Their acceptance now takes us up to 18 countries which is 7% of the nations on earth. With this support behind the project we hope our third letter that we send out will be very successful. We recently had a meeting with the leader of Leeds City Council regarding the project and he has kindly agreed to support our venture. As the project is going well its nice for us to see that other people are starting to believe that what we are attempting can be done.We also had a meeting at Bradford University regarding a Peace Jam event there in March.Peace Jam is an organisation that is supported by many of the Nobel Peace Prize Laureates and president Hose Ramos Horta of Timor Leste will be attending the event. We have been asked to run a workshop to show a selection of students from all over Great Britain what we have achieved so far, and also get their input and feed back regarding the venture. We hope this will help us with the schools side of the project. The final piece of news for this update is that we received an e mail from Dr Zahi Hawass wishing us good luck with the project. As Dr Hawass is a world leader in the field of Egyptology we are grateful for his kind words.

After a nice break over Christmas its great to get back to the project. Thanks very much to Cyprus for the card wishing us the best of luck with the project in 2010.Your thoughts are greatly appreciated. We received an e mail through from Pitcairn Island saying they would like to participate in the project. Its a fascinating place and we thank them for their support. We were recently contacted by the Yorkshire Evening post who had come across our website and asked if they could do a story on the project. The article should come out shortly and as its the first bit of publicity the project has received we are looking forward to reading the results. We hope to create a page on the website so you will be able to view any exposure we receive. As usual we are continuing to work hard and if the start of the year is anything to go by 2010 will be a great year for Leeds Pyramid.

With no precedent to work from, the project so far has certainly been a challenge and the various skills we are having to accumulate as we go along makes it extremely interesting.A student from the Leeds college of Art and the business that created the pyramid illustration have reworked the projects logo to so it now visually represents what the project is all about. We will be now using this on the website and on all correspondence. The illustrator has also created an internal drawing of the pyramid showing where the various time capsules will go.The schools side of the project will now start at some point early in the new year.We were hoping to start before 2010 but for the sake of a few weeks we would rather make sure it is as good as it can be.With the new year just around the corner we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people and countries who have supported the project so far and we hope next year will be the year when the project starts to fully achieve its potential.
